We first learned of KMU in 2006 when a former Board member taught a seminar there attended by future KMU President Kasap Owan. In subsequent years conversations with Dr. Kasap and David Persons, UMC missionary assigned to Mulungwishi, highlighted the ongoing financial needs of KMU and led to the creation in 2014 of Friends of Katanga Methodist University with the goal of providing scholarship funding for Seminary students and has expanded from there. 

Since its inception Friends of KMU has raised over $300,000, allowing us to fund:

• scholarships for the Mulungwishi Theological Seminary,

• the creation of high speed internet infrastructure throughout the campus

• internet service providers cost

• initial refurbishment of 50 year old Seminary student housing,

• support for the Mama Doris Women’s School

• support for programs at Mulungwishi Clinic

• the shipment of critical medicines for the community
